Summer Reading Program @ PMPL
The Summer Reading Program is a great time for children, teens and parents to join in lots of fun at the library with programs and prizes for kids who love reading! Summer Reading Program is also designed to help sustain your child's reading skills throughout the summer so he or she can start the next school year on the right foot. Registration begins on June 14 @ the library.
This year, the library is returning to the practice of registering our young children in the library. We found it was a more inviting experience for children to visit the library, turn in their reading logs and pick out their prizes! However, our YA/teens will be still able to register from any location through links on our website on the YA page, and then post the books and number of pages read. Please ask if you have any questions!
Our theme this year is Make a Splash @ Your Library and involves all kinds of storyhours, books, games, programs, activities, and presenters with buggy themes.
For the 2010 Summer Reading Program, PMPL is very excited that we can still offer our kids and families events from the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees, the Pocono Raceway, and special promotions from the area water parks for discounted rates for all kids and family members who have a valid Pocono Mountain Public Library card. Just ask for more details!!!
Please note that our Kids Arts & Crafts Hour is for kids ages 7 & up and is ONLY ONE TIME PER WEEK ON WEDNESDAYS this year at 2:00 pm beginning on July 7. Registration is required and meeting times are limited to 20 kids. Participating kids should have basic craft skills. Please call if you have any questions.
Day care centers are not permitted to attend our regularly scheduled storyhours, Kids Arts & Crafts, and some indoor special events at the library because of our severe space limitations and because of craft & activity preparation. However, PMPL will accomodate day care centers for their own events at the library, and can give permission for day care centers to register to attend special events held outdoors during the summer.
